Commission questions former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and others for over 4 hours
Former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and several others were questioned for over 4 hours by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into massive fraud and corruption this morning.
The commission’s Secretary Lasil de Silva said that the group would be further questioned tomorrow as well as on two other occasions in future.
Former Defence Secretary was summoned to the commission in connection with a complaint received with regard to the Rakna Lanka company.
Expressing his views with regard to the matter, Commission’s Secretary and Former Parliamentary Administrative Director Lasil de Silva stated that a statement was recorded for over 6 hours from former Defence Secretary Rajapaksa on August 24th as well.
He also stated that the first charge is with regard to utilizing 500 workers attached to Rakna Lanka Company for campaign activities during the past presidential election.
The second charge is regarding the replacement of the vacant posts with Civil Defence force personnel and hiring weapons belonging to the company.
