11 Ministerial Posts & 15 Cabinet Portfolios to SLFP

Already 43 Ministers have been appointed in the national government and 42 among them swore in today (4th) before the President. Mangala Samaraweera swore in earlier as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. With him the total number of ministers appointed is 43.

11 MPs who swore in today are from the SLFP.

  1. Nimal Siripala De Silva - Minister of Transport
  2. S.B. Dissanayake - Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare
  3. W.D.J. Seneviratne - Minister of Labor and Trade Union Relations
  4.  Anura Priyadarshana Yapa - Minister of Disaster Management
  5. Susil Premajayantha - Minister of Technology, Technical Education and Employment
  6. Mahinda Samarasinghe - Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training
  7. Mahinda Amaraweera - Minister of Fisheries and Water Resources
  8. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya – Minister of Power and Renewable Energy
  9. Duminda Dissanayake – Minister of Agriculture
  10. Chandima Weerakkodi - Minister of Fuel and Petroleum Gases
  11. Dayasiri Jayasekara - Minister of Sports

President stated at the swearing-in ceremony that 15 MPs of the SLFP will be receiving Cabinet ministerial posts.  

The resolution for the appointment of 48 cabinet ministers passed in Parliament yesterday (3rd). Since President Maithripala Sirisena himself is holding a ministerial post only 4 cabinet ministers are yet to be sworn-in.

Premier Ranil Wickramasinghe addressed the gathering at the swearing-in ceremony. He said that solutions for the main problems in the country are expected from the national government established for the next two years.
