Already 43 Ministers have been appointed in the national government and 42 among them swore in today (4th) before the President. Mangala Samaraweera swore in earlier as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. With him the total number of ministers appointed is 43.
11 MPs who swore in today are from the SLFP.
President stated at the swearing-in ceremony that 15 MPs of the SLFP will be receiving Cabinet ministerial posts.
The resolution for the appointment of 48 cabinet ministers passed in Parliament yesterday (3rd). Since President Maithripala Sirisena himself is holding a ministerial post only 4 cabinet ministers are yet to be sworn-in.
Premier Ranil Wickramasinghe addressed the gathering at the swearing-in ceremony. He said that solutions for the main problems in the country are expected from the national government established for the next two years.
