PM Leaves for India on a 2 day Official Visit

Making his first overseas visit to India after assuming office last month, Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe will leave for New Delhi today on a 2 days’ official visit.

Prime Minister Wickramasinghe is set to meet his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and several other Indian leaders.

At Sri Lanka- India bilateral talks, the leaders of the two countries will focus on consolidating and strengthening the friendship of India and Sri Lanka and regional links for peace and reconciliation.

According to our correspondent in India all preparations have been made to welcome the Prime Minister in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, the government has decided to release 16 Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody in view of Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe’s official visit to India.
