Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasingha arrives in India
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who left the country on a two day official tour of India has arrived in Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.
The Prime Minister was received by Indian trade and Commerce Minister Nirmala Seetharama at the air port.
Our correspondent stated that Indian authorities have taken steps to hold a special welcome ceremony for the visiting premier and his 16 member delegation.
The prime minister’s office stated that Prime Minister Wickremesinghe is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with several Indian leaders including Indian Premier Narendra Modi, President Pranab Mukerjee and Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj.
The visit by Premier Wickremesinghe to India is the first of its kind after he was sworn in as the prime minister after the general election on August 17th.
