Chamara Dasanayake – new Chief Minister of Uva

Chamara Sampath Dasanayake of UPFA swore in before President Maithripala Sirisena today as Chief Minister of Uva Province.

President’s Media Unit stated that Chamara Sampath took his oaths before provincial governor M.P. Jayasinghe flanked by President Maithripala Sirisena at the president’s official residence.

Chamara Sampath elected to the Provincial Council in 2009 and he functioned as a provincial minister last year. 

He was appointed to the post after UNP Harin Fernando elected to parliament in the last general election.

In addition, a team of new ministers for the Uva Provincial Council have also taken oaths this morning.
