Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera says a domestic mechanism would be created by taking the reports by UNHRC into consideration, and its implementation would be completed within 18 months.
The minister stated this during a media conference organized to explain the future cause of action by the government after the release of the UNHRC report.
Foreign Minister Samaraweera said that the structure of the domestic investigation has already been made under four major proposals.
The first proposal of the domestic structure is to add two mechanisms to the Constitution in order to unearth the truth.
One mechanism is to set up a legitimate commission to prevent incident of the nature.
The second proposal is to establish a judiciary mechanism comprising of legal luminaries in order to protect the right to claim compensation.
A special office to facilitate this is also included under this proposal.
The fourth proposal is of paramount importance as it recommended to introduce a mechanism to prevent any youth uprising or terrorism.
It specially stated that solutions to the problems of the minority should be found within a unitary Sri Lanka.
At the same time, Foreign minister Samaraweera said that he anticipates the UNHRC would endorse the government domestic mechanic which has already been presented before UNHRC.
Answering a journalist, minister Mangala Samaraweera said that it was able to rescue former president Mahinda Rajapaksa from the electric chair.
