Prisons Commissioner General Rohana Pushpakumara stated that the 3 officials were interdicted after receiving the relevant report following the revelation made by Hiru News.
An attorney-at-law has complained to Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya about special treatment provided by prison officials to an international drug kingpin Mohamed Siddik while the suspect was kept in the Chief Magistrate Court cell.
On a tip-off provided by Wela Suda, who is currently in remand on the charges of drug smuggling, Mohamed Siddik was arrested in Pakistan on the 18th of last March.
The suspect was questioned by the CID for 6 months and was produced before Court yesterday for the first time.
Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya remanded the suspect until October 2nd, and the suspect was given special treatment at the court cell before he was transported back by prison officials.
The prison official also allowed a Muslim to meet the suspect inside the cell.
