A group of UPFA and SLFP parliamentarians boycotted the parliament debate being held on six financial regulations.

They took this decision in protest of the financial regulations and the statement made by the Prime Minister.

Accordingly, except Sarath Amunugama, all other SLFP and UPFA MPs sitting in the Opposition walked away from the parliament chambers.

However MPs of the TNA and the JVP are participating in the debate at this moment.

At the same time, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe made a statement with regard to his recent tour of India.

He said that it was discussed to launch a ferry service between Tutocorin and Colombo as well as Rameshwaram to Talai Mannar.

He also stressed that no discussion took place about CEPA.

While expressing his surprise about certain local media reports published about some initiative to build a bridge between India and Sri Lanka, the premier said such a matter was not discussed during his tour of India.
