Former President, MP Mahinda Rajapaksa says that paying for advertisements telecast through a State Media Institution during the presidential election is responsibility of the party.
The officers of the special presidential commission of inquiry on massive scale fraud and corruption visited former president Mahinda Rajapaksa to record a statement yesterday.
Former president Rajapaksa was informed in writing on September 17th to appear before the Special Commission of Inquiry on Mass scale fraud and corruption in order to record a statement with regard to non-payment of fees to a state media institution for advertising during the last presidential election.
Later Commission Secretary Lacil de Silva said that it was decided to visit the former president’s residence in Mirihana yesterday to record the statement.
However the commission was informed by the former president’s faction to record the statement last afternoon.
