President Maithripala Sirisena arrived in New York this morning to attend the 70th United Nations General Assembly.
The President is scheduled to deliver his address at the Assembly on September 30th.
He is expected to enlighten the General Assembly on Sri Lanka’s stand on the reports released on alleged human rights violations.
The President will also attend the Economic Conference held on September 27th in New York.
During his stay in the United States the President is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with the American President Barack Obama and the Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, Presidents of Switzerland and South Africa and many other foreign dignitaries.
External Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Affairs D.M. Swaminathan, Minister of Justice and Wijeyadasa Rajapaksha and Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training Mahinda Samarasinghe will be accompanying the President in this visit.
