A car plying in the Colombo-Kataragama main road was severely damaged last night (24th), attacked by a wild elephant who had appeared on the road at Katuwewa, Hambanthota. The police stated that 3 people had been in the car at that moment and that a child and a woman who were injured was admitted to the Hambanthota Hospital. They are residents of Seeduwa and the accident had occurred on their way to Kataragama.

Also a wild elephant attacked a three wheeler at Keliyapura,  Hambanthota on last 11th causing injuries to mother, father and child who were traveling in it.

Hiru News has revealed on many occasions earlier as well about the wild elephant intrusions on the Hambanthota-Kataragama road, calling attention to the risk on travelers.
