7 persons died following a landslide at Lily Estate, Ramboda last evening and their bodies have been recovered.

Several houses of estate workers were covered with earth following the landslide.

Disaster Management Centre officials said relief workers found it difficult to reach the area due to the inclement weather.

Meanwhile, 193 persons belonging to 44 families were given shelter at the Ramboda, Tamil school due to the prevailing adverse situation.

6 dead and 1 missing in Ramboda Landslide

Six persons died and one person reported missing following a landslide at Lily Estate, Ramboda last evening.

Several houses of estate workers were covered with earth following the landslide.

Police and residents launched a search operation to rescue the missing.

Disaster Management Centre officials said relief workers found it difficult to reach the area due to the inclement weather.

Earth slip at an estate in Ramboda; 5 killed and 2 missing

Five persons died and another two are reported missing when a landslide occurred at the Lilies Land Line rooms of Wedamulla Estate at Ramboda in Kothmale today.

It is reported that a mother and two children are among the missing.

Meanwhile police, with the assistance of residents, have launched rescue operations.
