UK welcomes Sri Lanka's cooperation on draft resolution
The UK Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Hugo Swire welcomed Sri Lanka's cooperation on the draft resolution, tabled at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Thursday, on promoting accountability and reconciliation in the island nation.
The British Minister in a Twitter message said Sri Lanka's cooperation is another step closer to addressing the accountability for crimes committed during the conflict.
Sri Lanka co-sponsored the resolution titled 'Promoting reconciliation, accountability and human rights in Sri Lanka' along with its main sponsor, the United States.
UK, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and Montenegro also co-sponsored the resolution.
