The Appeal Court issued notices on 4 respondents including MP Geetha Kumarasinghe ordering them to appear before Court on November 19th.

The notices were issued today after considering a petition filed by five voters of the Galle district.

The petitioners requested Court to issue an order declaring the MP position currently being held by Geetha Kumarsinghe null and void as holding dual citizenship by a MP is against the Constitution.

Four persons including MP Geetha Kumarasinghe and the UPFA General Secretary are among the respondents.

However, when rumors were spreading about the dual citizenship of Geetha Kumarasinghe before the General election, our news team contacted Geetha Kumarasinghe to comment on the matter.

Speaking to our news team Geetha Kumarasinghe said that she withdrew her Swiss citizenship before handing over her nominations.
