A US plane crashes at Afghanistan airport, killing eleven.

An American C-130 transport plane has crashed at Jalalabad airport in Afghanistan, killing six crew members and five civilian contractors.

Reports say the Taliban claims it downed the plane, which was carrying six US military personnel and five civilian contractors.

“The crew and passengers were killed,” US Army Colonel Brian Tribus said.

The Taliban claimed it shot the Hercules aircraft down, according to Agence France-Presse.

Although the systematical removal of US militants from Afghanistan has commenced, still nearly 10k US soldiers are remaining there.
