The Ministry of Finance today announced that the prices of cigarettes, beer and hard liquors have been increased with effect from today.

The price of cigarettes has been increased by 3 rupees from 30 rupees to Rs. 33 rupees.

The excise duty on Molasses and Coconut arrack has been increased with effect from today under the Excise ordinance by the Ministry of Finance.

Excise duty on Molasses and Coconut arrack has been increased by 110 rupees from 1,485 rupees to 1,595 rupees per Proof Liter.

Accordingly the prices of a bottle of Arrack may be increased by 60 rupees.

The excise duty of country made foreign liquor has been increased by 160 rupees from 1,700 rupees to 1,860 rupees per proof liter.

Accordingly the price of a bottle of such foreign liquor will be increased by 125 rupees.

The excise duty on beer with Alcohol strength less than 5% has been increased by 40 rupees per liter from 150 to 190 rupees.

The other beer which contains the alcohol strength of more than 5% will be increased by 60 rupees from 185 rupees to 245 rupees.

Accordingly the price of 625 mili litte bottle of less than 5 % alcohol Beer will be increased by 25 rupees and the beer which has the alcohol strength of more than 5% will be increased by 50 rupees.
