Prime Ministers of Sri Lanka and Japan reach agreement on strengthening ties
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has proposed to establish an active group comprising high ranking Ministers and Officials to further strengthen the relationship with Sri Lanka.
The Japanese Prime Minister had echoed these sentiments when he met with visiting Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on the sidelines of the Science and Technology Summit in Kyoto.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expressed confidence that Sri Lanka would experience a rapid growth under the current government and said that Japan will extend their fullest support.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had emphasized that the government’s policy was to work cordially with all countries alike.
Premier Wickremesinghe also stated that the national government allows Sri Lanka to face challenges more confidently and appreciated the support offered by Japan.
The official round of discussions between the two Prime Ministers will be held on the 06th in Tokyo.
Meanwhile, the Key Note address at the Science and Technology Summit in Kyoto was made by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The Premier emphasized that the new government is committed to ensure that the benefits of development are passed on to the people who went through sufferings in the past.
