The Department of Examination has released the names of those who excelled to claim the first, second and third places of the Year-5 Scholarship Examination.
The Department stated that three candidates have obtained the highest marks in the island. That is 196 marks.
The three students are Kavinda Unantenna of Gangasiripura Vidyalaya in Gampola, Kavishka Wanigasekera of Malmaduwa Makura Primary School in Kegalle and Melani Wijesinghe of Sri Sumangala Primary School at Ussapitiya in Kegalle.
At the same time, five students have reached the second place by obtaining 195 marks.
They are: Oshani Hashinika of Udubaddawa Dhammananda Maha Vidyalaya in Kuliyapitiya, Tharindya Perera of Hiripitiya Primary School in Veyangoda, Nihara Maduhansa of President’s College at Mahara Kadawatha, Vishwa Pathiraja of Pahathgama Christian Junior School in Hanwella and Dulaj Wijesekera of Udupila Primary School in Delgoda.
Meanwhile, Savidu Aman of Labuduwa Siridamma Vidyalaya in Ambalangoda, Gamidu Sasmitha of P de S Kularathna Vidyalaya in Ambalangoda and Sanjan Abeydeera of Model School in Tangalle have obtained 194 marks to reach the third place of the Year-5 Scholarship Examination.

Grade 5 scholarship results released
The results of grade five scholarship examination held on 23rd August this year were released today.
Examinations Commissioner General W. M. N. J. Pushpakumara said that 333 thousand 671 school children sat for the examination.
Meanwhile the grade 5 scholarship examination cut off marks for each and every district was released as well.
The Minimum cut off mark for Colombo, Gampaha, Kaluthara, Kandy, Mathale, Galle, Mathara, Kurunagala and Kegalle districts is 160.
Minimum cut off mark for Hambanthota and Rathnapura districts is 158.
Minimum cut off mark for Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa districts is 156.
Minimum cut off mark for Mulathiv, Ampara, Puthlam, Badulla and Monaragala districts is 155.
