The services along the Northern Railway Line which were interrupted due to a derailment have been restored to order. The Railway Control Room stated that the Colombo-Jaffna intercity express train set off at 5.45 am as usual this morning (7th).

The train bound to Colombo from Talaimannar was derailed yesterday (6th) afternoon between the Ambanpola and Galgamuwa stations in the Northern Line. More than 200 sleepers were damaged due to the accident and the all four night mail trains plying between Colombo, Talaimannar and Kankasanthurei were cancelled.
