The Minuwangoda Magistrate D.A. Ruwan Pathirana permitted the CID today to perform a DNA on the father of the Kotadeniyawa murdered girl.
CID moved a motion seeking permission for the DNA, and the father of Seya Sadevmi appeared before Court today accordingly.
When the Magistrate enquired the father of the victim whether he would like to be tested, the father has replied affirmatively.
Our correspondent stated that the Magistrate permitted the CID to perform a DNA test on the father of Seya Sadevmi with his consensus.
Meanwhile the 17-year old student Suranjan Pradeep and a father of one Kelum Attanayake complained to the Human Rights Commission today.
Both Suranjan and Kelum were arrested by police in connection with the murder of Seya Sadevmi and remanded but were released later as their DNA did not match.
The petitioners complained under the charges of illegal arrest, illegal detention, assault and discrimination.
At the same time, Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera expressed his views with regard to the petitions filed by the student and the father of one who were arrested, remanded and released later.
He said that an interim report with regard to the incident has been submitted to the IGP.
