The petitions produced on behalf of the student and the father of one who were arrested under suspicion regarding the Kotadeniyawa murder and were later released, were considered before the Commission of Human Rights yesterday.

It has been revealed that the Negombo Judiciary Medical Officer Rahul Hak has produced two contradictory reports on the 17 year old boy.

The Legal Secretary of the commission said that the Judiciary Medical officer will be summoned to the Commission of Human Rights for investigation. A complaint issued by the Ceylon Teachers’ Union was considered yesterday by the Commission.

A protest was staged requesting a speedy completion of the hearing of the case.

Meanwhile the Divulapitiya police recorded statements from about 10 locals of Kotadeniyawa yesterday. The investigation regarding the complaints by the 17 year old boy and the father of one about being beaten by the police is conducted under the supervision of the Western Provincial Senior DIG Pujith Jayasundara.

Meanwhile a memorandum was handed over to the Presidential Secretariat and the Prime Minister’s Office by the parents of Vidya Sivaloganathan who was raped and killed in Jaffna, together with representatives of the Ceylon Travel Board and citizens of the Northern Province yesterday, requesting justice by the girl. The walk of protest which began at Jaffna on the 5th terminated at Colombo, where the memorandum was handed over to the authorities.
