A group of representatives attached to the Sri Lanka Press Institute has engaged in a discussion with President Maithreepala Sirisena today.

The discussion was centered on actions that should be taken to strengthen self censorship by media.

President’s Media Unit stated that Media Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka was also present.

Meanwhile, The Meeting of Senior Drug Enforcement Officials of the Indian Ocean Region commenced under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena today in Colombo.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the Global Maritime Crime Programme and the Ministry of Defence co-host the Meeting held from 13th to 15th October.

Over 60 delegates at the level of the head or deputy head from 21 countries in the Indian Ocean region and 7 organizations are participating in this meeting.

President Maithripala Sirisena has given his consent to appoint a national level Trade Union Advisory Committee under his supervision.

The Committee will be headed by the Secretary to the President and the relevant Ministers.
