Landslide risk in Nuwara-eliya, Kegalle and Badulla

The landslide risk announced for Badulla, Nuwara-eliya and Kegalle districts with effect from 4PM yesterday is still in effect.

Accordingly, Bandarawela, Ella, Haldummulla and Welimada of the Badulla districts are announced as landslide prone areas.

Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippilli stated that Hatton, Ambagamuwa, Nanu-Oya, Kotagala and Thalawakele of Nuwara-eliya and Yatiyanthota, Bulath-Kohu-Pitiya, Deraniyagala and Galigamuwa of Kegalle are hence at risk.

Meanwhile, Duty Meteorologist Nimal Bandara Ekanayaka stated that thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island particularly after 12.00 noon.
