Investigations with regard to Avant Guard armory vessel handed over to CID
The investigations with regard to the Avant Gaurd vessel have been handed over to the CID.
While the navy inspected this vessel on October 6th on suspicion as it sailed on close to the Galle Harbour with the Sri Lankan Flag, subsequently took it to its custody alleging that the vessel had exchanged contradictory information.
The navy completed the investigation and handed over the relevant report to the Defence Ministry recently.
Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said 33 crew members including five foreigners were on board.
He also stated, according to available information there were 816, T-56 fire arms and nearly 200 thousand rounds in the vessel.
