The hunger strike by Tamil detainees including some LTTE suspects is continued for the fourth day today.

A Prison Officer said that 150 detainees at Colombo Magazine Prison, Anuradhapura, Batticaloa and several other prisons are engaged in the hunger strike.

Meanwhile Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa visited Colombo Magazine Prison to look into the maters of the demand by the strikers.  Having discussion with the detainees, the Minister told the media he promised the strikers to give a solution to their matter before the end of this year.  The Minister also stated that he asked the detainees to give up the hunger strike accordingly.
