Land slide warning in 10 districts: Nilwala and Ging rivers overflow
The Disaster Management Center has extended the warning of landslide threats in 10 districts due to the prevailing rainy weather.
The Disaster Management Center said the warning issued until 8pm last night was extended for a further 24 hours.
The 10 districts include Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Kegalle, Kandy, Kalutara, Ratnapura, Matara, Hambantota, Mathale and Galle.
Meanwhile due to incessant showers Nilawala and Ging Rivers have overflowed.
According to our corresponded Akurassa and Panadugama areas are inundated.
Deputy Director of the Center Pradeep Kodopllai warned the residents of those districts to remain vigilant if the rains continued further.
The met department states that Evening thundershowers will over the country, but rainfall will reduce slightly.
Showers will occur at several places in the Northern and Eastern provinces.
Thundershowers will occur at most places elsewhere after 02.00 pm.
Duty Meteorologist Sri Lal herath stated that Heavy falls about 100 mili meters are also likely at some places.
