UPFA Western Provincial Councilor Upali Kodikara was remanded till October 23rd after arresting him for obstructing police duty.

Colombo chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya remanded the Provincial Councilor after he was produced before Court this afternoon.

The Cinnamon Garden police arrested the PC member this afternoon.

Kodikara was charged for obstructing police duty at the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry on Massive Fraud and Corruption when former President Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived in the premises last Friday.

Another case against 27 persons including Upali Kodikara is being heard in the Fort Magistrate Court.

That is for engaging in a protest, disregarding a court order, in front of the Bribery commission

Attorney-at-law Premnath Dolawatta who appeared for Kodikara told our news team that the PC member was not given bail today as he is an accused of another case.
