UPDATE: Kondaya bailed out by his mother.


Dunesh Priyashantha alias Kondaya who was released from the Seya Sadevmi murder charges left the Mahara Prison today after his mother signed in his bail application.

Kondaya was produced before the Magistrate of Gampaha Tikiri K Jayathilaka last Wednesday in connection with a complaint where he had forcefully entered a house at Egodawatta in Yakkala and assaulted a person in 2014.

The Magistrate of Gampaha ordered to release the suspect on two personal bails amounting to 50,000 rupees each.

However, Kondaya was further remanded until the 23rd of October as nobody was present to bail him out.

However Kondaya’s elder brother Saman Jayalath who took the full responsibility for the murder of Seya Sadewmi has been remanded until the 2nd of November.

'Kondaya' alias Dunesh Priyashantha released on bail

According to Hiru news reporter, Dunesh Priyashantha alias ‘Kondaya’ released on bail by Gampaha Magistrate Courts.

Mother of Dunesh Priyashantha alias ‘Kondaya’ signed for the bail at Gampaha Magistrate Court allowing his release, Lawyer Udul Premarathna states.

Although the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court on Oct. 21 ordered to release Priyashantha on bail, he remained in custody as no one had come forward to bail him out.

The magistrate ordered to release him on two sureties of Rs.50, 000 each after facing charges of unauthorized entry to a residence and assault.

The lawyer who appeared on behalf of the acquitted  Dunesh Priyashantha  Mr.Udhul Premaratna  states that the fateful incidents faced by  Dunesh Priyashantha alias “Kodaya” has given an opportunity to reflect on the crime investigation system in Sri Lanka.

He further states that during investigations Dunesh has been assaulted and that he filed a complaint in this regard to the Human Rights Commission.

Dunesh Priyashantha who was released from the Seya Sadewmi ‘s molestation case was produced before Gampaha  Magistrate Tikiri .K.Jayathilaka  on another offence and was remanded but no one came forward to bail him out even though his mother and sister were present at the courts, they did not come forward to bail him out .

His sister stated to the media reporters that it will be a threat to his life if he is released. “Kondaya’’s brother is been accused of Seya Sadewmi’s molestation case. Earlier we learnt that the road leads to Kondaya’s home was also destroyed by the residence of the area.

Meanwhile the road leading to Dunesh Priyashantha’s village had been destroyed and his sister’s house also was set fire. And the lawyer Udhul Premaratne states this is a social malady.

Meanwhile the road entrance of Kotadeniyawa –Ingamaruwa area where “kondaya” lived has been damaged using Backo machines by an unknown group. And “Kondaya”s sister’s house has been set on fire.

The above two incidents are a social malady states lawyer Udhul Premarathna. Hiru news contacted the Sri Jayawardenapura university social and human science department’s head professor Mayura Samarakone in this regard. He stated that if an acquitted has been prevented to go home in such manner his human rights are been violated.
