Wimal Weerawansa’s passport returned on a 100 thousand rupee cash bond
The Additional Magistrate of Negombo Thilakarathna Bandara conditionally released UPFA parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa's new foreign passport, today.
The Magistrate of Negombo ordered the release of the MP's passport on a 100 thousand rupee cash bond when the case was heard today.
No travel restriction was imposed on the MP by the court, allowing him to travel abroad using the passport.
The Criminal Investigations Department arrested Wimal Weerawansa at the Bandaranaike International Airport on the 23rd of October when he attempted to leave the country with an invalid passport.
The Negombo Magistrate's Court released the MP with two sureties, of one million rupees each and a 10 thousand rupee cash bail when he was produced in the court after his arrest.
