The Commission began investigations a few months ago, into this financial fraud which is believed to have occurred in the catering unit of Sri Lanka airlines during the Rajapaksa regime.

Complaints were made to the Commission that the financial misappropriation had been committed on three instances.

The Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry on Massive Fraud and Corruption revealed during its initial investigations that 77 million rupees were misappropriated on the first instance, and millions of rupees were siphoned on two later occasions.

Accordingly, former Civil Aviation Minister and current state minister of Law and Order Priyankara Jayarathna was summoned before the Commission to give a statement with regard to the above incidents of fraud and corruption.
