Mahinda Rajapakse to the Presidential commission of inquiry
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is scheduled to appear again today before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into investigation about Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Government Resources, Power and Privileges. (PRECIFAC).
Today and tomorrow the Presidential Commission is scheduled to seek evidence from the public with regard to the non-payment of dues to ITN for commercial advertisements telecast on behalf of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the last presidential election.
For this former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been informed to appear before the Commission once again.
Several Presidential Commission officers The former president was queried on the incident for the first time after a visit by several Presidential commission officers to his Mirihaana house on 23rd last month.
The former President had been informed to come to the PRECIFAC on 17th last month.
However it had been communicated from the former president’s side that he would be coming for the purpose on 23rd afternoon last month.
Several presidential commission officers visited the former president’s Mirihaana house accordingly and recorded his statements.
However, earlier several persons had been summoned for obtaining a statement relevant to the incident.
Among these were also former UPFA general secretary Minister Susil Premajayantha, former mass media minister Keheliya Rambukwella, former Minister Dullas Alahapperuma, former Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga and former Finance Ministry Secretary P. B. Jayasundera .
