Although one year has gone by after the Meeriyabadda tragedy, those who were displaced due to the landslide have not received houses despite various parties promising to provide houses.

The 100 day government laid a foundation stone for a housing project in Poonagala to build houses within 3 months under the patronage of Minister P Digambaran.

However, a meeriyabadda resident stated that the project was limited only to the foundation stone.

However, Minister of Hill Country, New Villages, Infrastructure and Community Development P. Digambaran stated that a final decision will be taken regarding the issue during the cabinet meeting next week.
