Three army soldiers were electrocuted when a high tension line collapsed on a moving learner’s vehicle in front of the Mosque at Gintota in Galle today.

Police stated that three other soldiers and the driving instructor who were electrocuted were rushed to the Karapitiya hospital.

However, hospital sources stated that the condition of the four patients is not serious.

The group of soldiers including the dead was attached to the Boosa Army Camp.

Three soldiers electrocuted in Galle

Three individuals have died when a high-tension power cable fell on a learners’ vehicle at Ginthota in Galle.

Police say that the electricity cable had fallen next to a van at around 1.15 on this afternoon, and another three individuals are admitted to the Karapitiya Base Hospital, Police stated.

It is reported that the electricity cable had fallen next to the vehicle and three persons who got off the vehicle were thus electrocuted and four others were also injured in the accident and later hospitalized.

The three deceased were soldiers attached to the Boossa Army Camp, sources states.
