The chairman of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board Dr. Nilanga Samarasinghe says that he would not quit his post despite the fax message he received about the replacement of his position.

He said that he would continue his duty as he did not receive an official letter citing that he was removed from the chairman position.

However the Secretary of the Minister of Law and Order and Prison Reforms has informed Dr. Nilanga Samarasinghe that a former Senior DIG H.M. Sirisena has been appointed as the new chairman of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board.

Our news team contacted the secretary of the Law and Order and Prison Reforms Ministry Jagath Wijeweera to comment on the matter.

He said that the letter has been sent on the instruction of the government, and the new appointment has been made under the power vested in the subject minister.
