Beleaguered Law and Order Minister Tilak Marapana to resign?

Sri Lanka's beleaguered Law and Order Minister Tilak Marapana is expected to resign today ahead of moves to have him removed by his cabinet colleagues, official sources said.

Minister Tilak Marapana who defended the controversial Avant Garde arms scandal in parliament drew severe criticism from those who had supported the United National Party (UNP) and President Maithripala Sirisena for good governance.

Mr. Marapana called a press conference to announce his future plans even as his cabinet colleagues were holding a special meeting chaired by President Sirisena to remove him.
