UN committee on enforced disappearances question about Lalith and Kugan for several hours

The UN Enforced Disappearances Committee has initiated an investigation into the disappearance of Lalith and Kugan. The incident happened during the previous regime.

A group of representatives of the Committee arrived in the country recently to open probing into the disappearances.

 The father of Lalith Kumar Weeraraj gave the committee a 3 hour statement  at the UN Head Office in Colombo today.

Lalith Kumar Weeraraj and Kugan Muruganandan disappeared on December 9, 2001 while they were engaged in tracing the disappeared during war.

Lalith and Kugan defected JVP, and they were engaged in active politics with the Frontline Socialist Party at the time of their disappearance.
