The Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) states that the Committee appointed by the Prime Minister (PM) to probe the police attack on the Higher National Diploma in Accountancy (HNDA) students has asked students about the difference between the current government and the previous regime.

Convener of the IUSF Lahiru Weerasekera made this statement during a media conference held in Colombo this morning

Police fired tear gas, water cannons and baton charged the HNDA students during a recent protest that took place in front of the ministry of Higher Education.

The protest took place as students made demands for degree status to their course.

The Cabinet met last Thursday and decided to give equal status of a degree to the HNDA course.
