Front Line party complains to police head quarters about Gotabaya's involvement in Gunarathnam's abduction
The Frontline Socialist Party lodged a complaint with police headquarters today requesting an investigation on the abduction of its politburo member Kumar Gunaratnam.
The complaint was lodged on the basis of a statement made recently to a weekend newspaper by former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
Kumar Gunaratnam and Dimuthu Atigala were abducted April 7, 2012 while they were staying in a house at Kiribathgoda. The duo were released near the Police Crime Division a day after the abduction.
In the newspaper interview, former Defence Secretary Rajapaksa said that Gunaratnam and Atigala were arrested on a tip off given by a resident living in same neighbourhood as Gunaratnam’s Kiribathgoda hide-out.
The audio clip by former Defence Secretary Rajapaksa was uploaded to the Internet.
Meanwhile Frontline party politburo member Duminda Nagamuwa said that a thorough investigation should be conducted on the abduction of Gunaratnam.
