Serial Numbers of 43 Weapons in Avant Garde Ship Altered: Rajitha Senarathna
The Joint Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Rajitha Senarathna says that the serial numbers of 43 weapons found from the Avant Garde vessel in Galle Harbor have been altered.
Addressing the media conference the minister said that the Navy Commander has informed the President about this information and stated that it is necessary to investigate this issue in depth.
Meanwhile, a special meeting with regard to the Avant Garde incident was held with the patronage of the President at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday. Commanders of the tri forces, the Attorney General, the Defense Ministry Secretary, representatives of the Rakna Lanka Security firm and several minister participated at this meeting. Subsequent to yesterday's meeting, President Maithripala Sirisena decided to cancel the agreement with the Avant Garde Company.
Addressing the conference Minister Senarathna noted that that the Attorney General had also agreed to the decision to cancel the agreement.
