The Joint Cabinet Spokesman and minister Rajitha Senarathna said the Court is responsible for giving a verdict over the Avant Garde incident. He stated it is not the role of the Justice Minister.

Minister of Justice and Buddhasasana Wijedasa Rajapakse told parliament recently that he had objected to the arrest of former Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in connection with the incident.

Minister Rajapakse said that the government does not counsel native proctors.

Cabinet spokesman was questioned ,if there was a connection  between the Avant Garde incident and the conspiracy in the Maldives.

The Navy Commander has submitted a report to the Ministry of Defense describing the transfer of functions by Avant Garde Security firm to the Sri Lankan Navy.
