A difference of opinion amongst  members of UPFA have created disputes in contesting the forthcoming Local Government polls.

Addressing a media conference held in Matara today, former minister Dallas Alahapperuma said the current National Government has been divided as the president declared that he would lead the UPFA election campaign.

However, addressing the media, minister S.B .Dissanayake made contradictory statements to that of the statements made by Alahapperuma.

Meanwhile addressing another media conference held in Kandy today, UPFA MP Lohan Rathwatte said the party would face a defeat if the election is led by the president Maithreepala Sirisena.

However Minister S.B. Dissanayake says campaigning for the election by the president and the prime minister sitting at two political sides would strengthen democracy.
