Case filed against Former Deputy Fisheries Minister Sarath Kumara Gunarathna for misusing state funds during Presidential Polls

Sources say that legal action is to be taken against 5 persons including Former Deputy Minister of Fisheries Sarath Kumara Gunarathna for misusing public funds during the recent Presidential Election.


They had been charged with the misuse of 13.2 Million Rupees for a Political Meeting which was held at the Negombo Municipal Council Grounds.


The Presidential Commission of Inquiry in to Fraud and Corruption has concluded investigations in to the incident.


Accordingly a request has been made to the Attorney General’s Department to file action against the accused.
