Four young Monks missing: Search Operation In progress to Locate

A joint search operation was in progress by the police, army and the Special Task Force (STF) yesterday (22) evening when after four Samanera monks aged 11 to 13 years from a temple in Aralaganwila did not return after hiking into the jungle.

They have apparently left for the jungle from Danajaya Rajamaha Viharaya close to mid-day. It is assumed that they entered the dense forest in an attempt to trek towards a prominent rock in the distance.

The search was in progress and no clue leading to the missing monks and Polonnaruwa Police are conducting further investigations.
