Earlier today Railway services were disrupted due to a wildcat strike by Station Masters and Train controllers. The strike was called off following a discussion with the Railway services General Manager about the issues that were of concern.
The strike was launched as a result of a driver switching a train engine at Peradeniya Station without the required authorisation.
Yesterday, Train services were also disrupted due to trade union action by locomotive drivers.
Meanwhile legal experts state that wildcat strikes of this nature, are taking place because commuters do not fight for their rights.
Station masters Association Secretary Suranga Wijekoon further described the reasoning behind the strikes.
