President Maithripala Sirisena left for Malta today to attend the 2015 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

The CHOGM 2015 will be held in Malta from 27th to 29th of this month under the theme 'The Commonwealth - Adding Global Value'.

Commonwealth leaders in Malta will address global issues such as climate change, building resilience in small states, trade and sustainable development, the empowerment of youth, gender equality and human rights.

In 2013 Sri Lanka hosted the biennial event, which brings together Heads of State and government from the 53 countries in the Commonwealth.
