Police says that legal action will be taken if functions are held commemorating terrorist groups.

However, TNA’s Northern Provincial Councillor M. K. Sivaajilingam has said that there is no obstruction for anyone who wishes to engage in the maha viru  Commemorations.

The Northern Provincial Councillor said that at this stage preparations would have been made , and that commemorations would happen in a peaceful manner.

Our regional reporters said that posters had been put up during the last few days urging the people to join together at the Jaffna University and several other locations in Vavuniya.

Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said that if any events were held, in remembrance of terrorist groups, relevant legal action would be taken.
