The GMOA stated that its members together with 16 trade unions will launch an island wide strike, beginning at 8am tomorrow against the budget proposals.
GMOA media spokesman Dr. Naveen de Soyza said that several other trade unions have pledged to join the strike.
Meanwhile GMOA stated in a media communiqué today that they expected more facilities in the budget to attract doctors to government service, but instead, even the existing facilities have been curtailed.
The GMOA also protested against the cancellation of duty free vehicle permits to government officers including doctors.
Dr. Soyza further expressed his views during a medical conference convened by joint committee of the government executives association in Colombo.
