Three navy trawlers continue operations this morning in search of dead bodies said to be floating in the Eastern sea beyond the coast of Trincomalee Saampuur.

The Sri Lanka Air force said yesterday that a Y12 aircraft was deployed at the request of the Navy.

The search was initiated following a tip-off by a fisherman Sunday night.

A joint search operation by Navy and Police was launched immediately to retrieve the five bodies.

However Navy media spokesman captain Akram Alavi stated the search operations were halted later sunday night due to inclement weather.

Meanwhile in related news,  the body washed ashore at the Nilaweli beach last Saturday is believed to be of Indian origin.

Nilaweli police stated that they found the Identity Card of the deceased, in his pocket.

In addition, police stated that the body of washed ashore on the Thalai Mannar beach last Saturday was also of an Indian national.
