A 32-year-old Sri Lankan male was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while attempting to smuggle out foreign currency worth more than one million Rupees and bank debit and credit cards last evening.

The suspect was arrested by BIA Custom’s officials at the Departure Lounge, while attempting to smuggle out them to Dubai, Customs sources states.

"The suspect is a resident of Kalmunai and he had currencies of 25,770 Dirhams to a value to the tune of Rs. 1,019,203 and found 109 bank debit and credit cards along their passwords in his possession which were belonging to several persons,” sources added.
