SL marks Human Rights Day with signing International Convention on Enforced Disappearances

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mangala Samaraweera said,  commemorating the Human Rights Day, Sri Lanka will sign the International Convention on Enforced Disappearances.

Minister Samaraweera announced that Sri Lanka's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York signed the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance yesterday.

Addressing media, the Foreign Minister said the Cabinet of Ministers, in keeping with the mandate and vision of the Government to promote and protect the human rights of all citizens and ensure non-recurrence, took "an extremely important and decisive step" to sign the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance.
